Join Our Team as an Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician
Day, Overnight & Swing Shifts | Full-Time & Part-Time Positions Available
At Bend Animal Emergency and Specialty Center (BAE), we’ve been proudly serving Central Oregon and beyond for over 20 years. As a growing, privately-owned hospital, we’re committed to being a force for positive change in the veterinary field. Led by two dedicated local emergency veterinarians, our team is focused on providing exceptional care while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. We’re BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ allies, and we celebrate diversity in all its forms.
As we expand our emergency and specialty services, we are looking for Credentialed Veterinary Technicians to join our Emergency & Critical Care Department—both for overnight and swing shifts. Whether you’re a seasoned technician or new to emergency care, we’ll provide the training you need to excel in this fast-paced and rewarding environment.
What We Offer:
- A Commitment to Work-Life Balance: We believe in fostering a culture of well-being with flexible scheduling options (full-time and part-time), generous paid vacation/sick time, and a healthy work-life balance.
- Competitive Compensation: Earn between $26–$33/hr depending on experience, with additional overnight shift differentials. Plus, we offer extra compensation for advanced certifications like VTS.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Full-time employees (32+ hrs/week) enjoy health insurance, dental and vision options, short- and long-term disability, 401k matching, paid time off, continuing education support, a uniform stipend, and more.
- Support for Growth: Never worked in emergency medicine before? No problem! We provide thorough training to help you grow your skills. We’ll teach you how to place central lines, nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, and more.
- A Culture of Respect & Inclusion: We prioritize teamwork, accountability, and open communication. At BAE, you’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, diversity, and empathy for both patients and colleagues.
What You’ll Do:
As a Veterinary Technician in our Emergency & Critical Care department, you’ll be an integral part of our team, responsible for:
- Triage & Procedure Workups: Efficiently assess incoming patients, assist with procedures, and provide thorough patient care.
- Bedside Nursing: Offer compassionate, high-quality nursing care for critically ill patients, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Patient Monitoring: Administer anesthesia and sedation (training provided for unstable patients), and monitor patients during recovery.
- ● Client Communication: Educate and update clients on patient status, procedures, and next steps in their pets' care.
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside emergency veterinarians and other nursing staff to provide the best care for every patient.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs, LVTs, RVTs) with at least 1 year of experience. Experience in emergency care is a plus but not required.
- Exceptional Communicators: You must be able to communicate effectively with clients and teammates, providing updates and support with empathy and professionalism.
- Multitaskers: The ability to handle a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm, detail-oriented approach is key.
- Patient Advocates: A deep commitment to patient care and comfort is essential in this role.
- Diversity Champions: We’re looking for someone who will help us continue to cultivate a workplace where inclusion, empathy, and collaboration thrive.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs, restrain animals, and work on your feet or in a crouched position for extended periods of time.
